Auburn University has switched to SilTanium Supreme-V in Parker Hall. The intent is to reduce the care cycle on asbestos tile, thereby reducing the risk of asbestos exposure.  The Parker building is slated for demolition in two years, so there will be no need to strip the floors before then.

The process started using Pacific Floor Care’s walk-behind orbital scrubber with Battery Shield®.  Using only water and maroon pads, we removed the finish and reduced the top layer of sealer.  We then applied a coat of DieHard high-solids floor finish and, once that was dry, we burnished the DieHard. Finally, we applied and burnished four coats of SilTanium Supreme-V, two coats at a time. This system provides maximum shine and depth of coating while offering all the long-term wear protection of SilTanium Supreme-V.

Additional halls in the Parker building will receive the same treatment in the near future.
