A Major International Retailer is back in the news at SilTanium after calling on us to repair joints and flatten concrete at one of its South Carolina distribution centers. To allow safe, rapid movements of forklifts and other inventory equipment, expansion joints must periodically be cut out and refilled with high-quality expansion joint material. This prevents the slowdown in productivity that can occur when surface inconsistencies cause inventory to dislodge.
Constant exposure to heavy equipment or liquid spills also can cause concrete loading-dock surfaces to degrade. SilTanium prevents degradation by grinding the areas flat and smooth, then hardening the concrete with WR Meadows LiquiHard Ultra, a lithium-based densifier.
We accomplished these remedial processes at the same time employees were loading and unloading hundreds of trucks. The project required a great deal of planning and management on the part of both the Major International Retailer and SilTanium, but the Major International Retailer does whatever it takes to keep stores stocked for its customers, and SilTanium does whatever it takes to serve our customers.
