Mr. David’s Flooring International, based in Itasca, IL is one of the largest floorcovering companies in the world.  They are an Alliance Partner of SilTanium.  The SilTanium Alliance Partners are the authorized and certified installers of the branded SilTanium coatings and systems.

• Evanston School District recently installed ColorBond Supreme on their tile and grout in restrooms. With many more buildings to go, ColorBond Supreme offers a like new appearance and an ease of maintenance with a reduction of urine smell. 
• Northwestern University coats restrooms with ColorBond Supreme and GrouTanium at the Allen Center.
• The Chicago Public Schools Longwood completed the DFE (Diamond Floor Enhancement) on 3,000 square feet of concrete. The concrete was polished and SentryGuard was applied and burnished to a high shine. 
• Ford Motor Company completed 15,000 square feet of locker rooms and 46 restrooms with a deep scrub and extraction and an application of the SilTanium Supreme coating on tile and grout.
• Ford Heights Public School used a SilTanium specialty product on newly installed VCT. It was DieHard 30 which is a 30% solids floor finish with unsurpassed shine and durability.  The customer wanted less coats with the same durability.  DieHard will last and last through continuous burnishing cycles.
• Midtown Athletic Club hired Mr. David’s to DFE Diamond Polish 3,500 square feet of concrete. The floor was finished with SentryGuard and diamond pad polished to a high shine.
• Wit Hotel (A Hilton property) has 177 rooms and has completed the first 36 restroom floors with ColorBond Supreme.
• Con Edison powers Chicago. Their floors are powered by SilTanium.  2,500 square feet of polishing and coated with SentryGuard.  
• The University of Illinois Chicago contracted Mr. David’s to polish 3,800 square feet of concrete. David’s used the SilTanium DFE system with SentryGuard.

University of West Georgia originally specified VCT in their Biology Building renovation.  Due to initial cost concerns and the long-term maintenance costs of floor finish, a decision was made to diamond hone and add the protective concrete guard SentryGuard. 

It was a long project that encompassed patching, repairs, and ended with diamond honing and the application of SentryGuard.  The decision to utilize the existing substrate and create a sustainable, long-lasting and low maintenance flooring system will provide the university with all the benefits of concrete and none of the down sides of floor covering maintenance and replacement.

The DFE Process (Diamond Floor Enhancement), was completed in the main lobby restrooms of the Children’s Hospital in downtown Atlanta.   Two restrooms had the floor finish removed, baseboard caulk replaced with a grout caulk system, and were polished and finished with SentryGuard and diamond burnishing. 

As the evaluation takes place, the hospital will find areas are easier to clean and will not need to be closed for coating repair as with traditional floor finish systems.

A major German auto maker in South Carolina hired SilTanium to apply SilTanium Supreme to the vinyl raised floors and ColorBond Supreme in their restrooms in 2017. In August, 2018, more restrooms were added and a complete ColorBond Supreme Warranty Cleaning was completed. The Warranty Cleaning is a deep scrub and extract cleaning. During the process, all blemishes from use are repaired at the same low cleaning price. This also extends the warranty by one-year on the floor coating systems.

These projects further demonstrate the market acceptance of a cleaning / warranty extension vs. competitor companies who charge $3.00 a square foot and more to come in each year and sell a coating maintenance system.

SilTanium continues to repair and reconstruct floor joints in distribution centers for a major international box store retailer. 

Joints are cut, cleaned and filled with the right material for the job.  Small joints are filled with polyurea.  Large reconstruction joints are filled and smoothed with high performance concrete compounds.

More SilTanium Supreme-V is being used at a university Daycare center to reduce periodic maintenance costs. Daycare’s are tough work environments. Furniture, toys, learning aids and rugs need to be removed from each class room and then replaced when work is complete for the night. Generally, work starts late and ends early. Therefore, time is supremely important.

The project was 7100 square feet. The halls were about 1,700 square feet of VCT. The VCT was stripped 100% and four coats of SilTanium Supreme-V were directly applied to the VCT. It took less than two quarts of SilTanium Supreme-V and just two hours for all four coats and a burnish.

SilTanium Supreme-V dries in about 5-7 minutes and is ready to recoat. It averages about 13,000 square feet per coat (verses floor finish at 1,700-2,000 square feet per coat). Floor Finish would have required 6 coats and taken a minimum of 6 hours to coat and burnish. The labor involved for the time differential in application more than paid for the cost of ½ gallon of SilTanium Supreme-V versus 6 gallons of floor finish. And then the real savings begin as there is no top-scrub and recoat required and burnishing will drop from weekly to every 1-2 months.

Each summer, Georgia Tech promotes the health and safety of their campus by deep cleaning almost all the flooring on campus. As part of their Sustainability Program, Georgia Tech is using Gen Eon empowered water to clean and disinfect. Gen Eon is a great choice that both saves money and is the only empowered water system with EPA registration.

To aid in the daily maintenance with sustainable cleaning, Georgia Tech has contracted SilTanium to coat restrooms throughout campus with ColorBond Supreme and GrouTanium systems. These allow for a totally refurbished appearance to the substrates and allow for quick and efficient daily cleaning. However, coating can be worn or damaged over time. If coatings are allowed to degrade over time, it is quite costly to remove and repair them. The summer cleaning at Georgia tech gives them a boost to deep cleaned flooring but also includes coating repair when necessary at the same price as just cleaning.

GrouTanium has a three-year warranty and ColorBond Supreme a one-year warranty. With the yearly maintenance program, SilTanium extends the warranty by another year on ColorBond Supreme, essentially providing a forever warranty. These types of initiatives make Georgia Tech not only one of the most sustainable campuses in the world but also saves them money and keeps the campus beautiful.

In an effort to promote sustainability and reduce maintenance costs, Cobb County Water Department chose to have its terrazzo halls, breakroom, restroom and offices polished with the SilTanium DFE system. The result is a low-maintenance substrate with reflectivity that maximizes lighting efficiency. These improvements, coupled with a higher coefficient of friction, translate to a well-rewarded project cost.

The initial installation had repair patches that did not blend in well. Also, there were circular grinder marks around edges from hand-grinder honing and in the middle of the floor from traditional walk-behind grinders. The SilTanium DFE Process made the vast majority of these issues simply disappear.

We performed all work between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. with very little disruption to daily operations. The new system was in place in three days.

A major grocery chain hired SilTanium to apply chemical floor guards to several previously polished retail store floors. These projects demonstrate the flexibility of SilTanium’s capability to read a floor and maximize the potential by properly applying high-quality guards.

Some of these stores are in the construction stage. This means dirt parking lots, busy contractor schedules and multiple on-the-fly scheduling changes. SilTanium’s processes generally are complete in two days. This includes intensive cleaning and coating application with final diamond burnishing. Major International Retailer has continual issues from spills of acidic foods in the grocery aisles. When this happens, a call is made to Service Channel to bring in a contractor for the repair. For small repairs, this is time-consuming and expensive.

When SilTanium got the call, we were on-site in 24 hours and the repair was complete a couple of hours later, allowing retail trade to continue. In the photo below, note the wheel marks where a shopping cart moved the liquid beyond the spill area. With the job now complete, the floor looks like new and has more protection than before.

If the cleanup occurs quickly, SentryGuard is a barrier to future staining, and coefficient of friction and gloss are significantly improved. Daily cleaning with auto scrubbers will allow this DFE surface to shine on for years to come.
